Data coverage
Every measure on the site, its source, and how much of the country actually carries it. The counts are read from the data each time this page is built, not from a list kept by hand, so they cannot drift away from what the map is showing.
A measure short of 3,144 counties is not necessarily broken. Some are published for states only; some are withheld where the source will not support them, such as rates in counties of a few hundred people. Where a gap has a reason, it is named in the last column. The methodology explains each one.
Take the data
Everything here as a spreadsheet, one row per place and one column per measure. Free to use with attribution. Series that do not fit a cell — price histories, industry breakdowns, migration pairs — are on the pages rather than in these files.
