Highest fish hatcheries by state

National fish hatcheries.

National fish hatcheries operated by the Fish and Wildlife Service, counted where they stand. These raise fish to stock public waters and to recover endangered species, and most have a visitor centre. There are 75 in the country, so all but 65 counties read zero — that is the normal case for a federal facility of this kind rather than a gap in the data. Administrative complexes are excluded where they sit alongside the hatcheries they oversee, since counting both would put five in a county with four. Fish health centres and technology centres are excluded too: they are laboratories rather than places to visit. USFWS National Fish Hatchery System.
