Highest severe-storm days by state
Reported severe-storm days / yr.
This measure has no better end. The order describes the states, it does not rank them — see the other direction.
Twenty-year annual average of county days with a reported NOAA severe-storm event. The 2006–2025 calculation includes county-coded Thunderstorm Wind, Hail, or Tornado records; a county-day is counted once even when the storm produces several reports. This is a history of reported significant convective weather, not a count of every thunderstorm, warning, lightning strike, or future risk.
