CDC counties with established tick populations.
This measure has no better end. The order describes the states, it does not rank them — see the other direction.
CDC's cumulative county surveillance classification for selected tick species. Select a species: the U.S. map shows the population-weighted share living in counties classified as established, while county maps highlight those counties. “Established” means CDC has records of six or more ticks of one life stage, or more than one life stage, in a 12-month period. A county not highlighted is not classified as established; it does not mean ticks are absent. This is not a map of tick abundance, bite likelihood, disease prevalence, or personal risk. CDC advises preventing tick bites wherever you spend time outdoors.
