Lowest fall color by state
Typical fall color timing.
This measure has no better end. The order describes the states, it does not rank them — see the other direction.
The typical calendar date when satellite-observed greenness has passed halfway from its seasonal peak toward senescence — a national indicator of the timing of autumn leaf-color change, not a prediction of this year's peak or a rating of colour intensity. Sampled at the county population centroid from the USA National Phenology Network's 2001–2017 MODIS climatology.

Not ranked, because this measure is not published for them: Alaska, Hawaii. Available for the contiguous U.S. only. Deserts, open water and other pixels without seasonal vegetation are blank.
