The table orders 51 states by aza-accredited zoos and animal parks. It describes one published measure, not an overall judgment about where to live.

Use the result as a starting point, then compare the underlying source, dates, and local county figures before making a decision. Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoos, zoological parks, safari parks, aviaries and animal-exhibit facilities, counted where they stand. Standalone aquariums and AZA's non-public related facilities are excluded: this is a zoo-trip measure, not a broad count of animal exhibitors. The list is curated from AZA's accredited-members directory and reviewed when accreditation changes; county placement uses published venue coordinates, with twenty documented county-FIPS placements where a public venue page supplies no machine-readable coordinate.
