This measure has no better end. The order describes the states, it does not rank them — see the other direction.

The midpoint year for all housing in the county, from Census table B25035. It says what you would be buying into: wiring, insulation, materials and layout all track the era a house was built in. Read as a description of the whole stock rather than of what is for sale — a county that built heavily in 1965 and again last year shows a middling median that matches neither half.
